Mahogany Finance Expands into the Highlands with New Goroka Branch

Mahogany Finance is continuing its growth across Papua New Guinea with the opening of its newest branch in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province.

Opening its doors on Monday, 17 August 2026, the Goroka branch marks another important milestone for the PNG-owned financial services company, giving Mahogany Finance a presence in three major centres — Port Moresby, Lae and now Goroka.

Located on the 2nd Floor of DJ Haus, Fox Street, the new branch will provide businesses and individuals in Goroka, the Eastern Highlands and the wider Highlands region with greater access to Mahogany Finance’s range of lending and deposit products.

Growing from Strength to Strength

Mahogany Finance commenced trading on 1 March 2023, making the opening of its third branch in just over three years a significant achievement for the company.

Chief Executive Officer Terry Hall said the expansion reflects the continued growth in demand for Mahogany Finance’s financial products and services.

Mr Hall said customers were responding positively to the company’s combination of competitive products, personal service, practical financial solutions and fast decision-making.

That reality was the focus of the recent RMA Ford Night hosted by Niu Ford in Port Moresby, where customers were given a closer look at how Ford vehicles can be adapted into specialised working solutions for PNG industry.

The event brought together business leaders, fleet customers, industry operators and key partners to explore a range of Ford-based vehicle conversions designed for sectors such as mining, emergency services, security, transport, logistics and fleet operations.

Rather than presenting vehicles as standard showroom models, the showcase highlighted how Ford platforms can be transformed to meet the specific demands of different industries. Through RMA’s specialist conversion capability, vehicles can be fitted out for mine-site use, emergency response, medical transport, refrigerated logistics, mobile servicing, secure transport and other demanding applications.

For many PNG businesses, this kind of customisation is becoming increasingly important. A vehicle used in mining has different requirements from an ambulance. A security vehicle has different priorities from a refrigerated transport unit. A fleet vehicle operating in remote areas must be prepared for conditions that go well beyond normal urban driving.

The event also gave customers a look at what is coming next for Ford in PNG, including the highly anticipated Ranger Super Duty. Expected to attract strong interest from businesses needing greater strength, payload capability and durability, the Ranger Super Duty is positioned for customers who require a tougher 4WD utility option for demanding work environments.

Theodist and Lae City Authority Partner to Improve School Signage Across Lae

Schools across Lae are set to receive new sign boards through a partnership between Theodist Limited and the Lae City Authority’s Urban Youth Employment Project Phase 2.

Theodist Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Lae City Authority - UYEP2 for the manufacture, supply and installation of school sign boards for selected schools across Lae, Morobe Province.

The project brings together the private sector and local government in a practical initiative aimed at improving school visibility, strengthening community identity and supporting public infrastructure. It will also create employment opportunities for young people through the UYEP2 programme.

Under the agreement, Theodist will manufacture and supply high-quality school sign boards based on approved specifications developed in consultation with participating schools. UYEP2 will oversee the erection and installation of the sign boards at the selected school locations.

More than 25 primary and secondary schools across different wards in Lae are expected to benefit from the project. These include Taraka Primary School, Bugandi Secondary School, Lae Secondary School, St. Mary’s Primary School, Coronation International School and Bumayong Lutheran Secondary School, among others.
