Theodist Renews K50,000 Sponsorship with Buk bilong Pikinini

August 20, 2025

Media Statement

Theodist has renewed its annual K50,000 sponsorship with Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP), reaffirming its long-standing commitment to education and literacy in Papua New Guinea.

A Gold Sponsor of BbP since 2014, Theodist’s support goes beyond financial assistance. In our shops, a dedicated bookshelf displays all BbP titles, with proceeds going directly towards literacy programs. The stores also have community book collection bins, allowing customers to donate pre-loved books that are then redistributed to children who need them most.

At today’s event, the cheque was presented by Mr. Ryan Pini, Corporate Development Manager at Theodist, to Ms. Leanne Resson, Executive Officer of Buk bilong Pikinini, in the presence of students from BbP’s UPNG Library Learning Centre. Speaking on behalf of Theodist, Mr. Pini said, “Buk bilong Pikinini is doing incredible work to make literacy accessible to children across PNG, and we are proud to stand alongside them.

He added, “Education has always been at the heart of Theodist. Our partnership with Buk bilong Pikinini reflects that broader legacy of helping schools, teachers, and students gain access to the tools and resources they need to succeed.” BbP’s Executive Officer, Ms. Resson, expressed her gratitude, “Theodist has been one of BbP’s strongest and most consistent partners. Their commitment over the past decade has not only strengthened our literacy programs but also helped us share our books with a wider audience. We are truly grateful for their contribution to giving Papua New Guinean children the gift of reading and learning.”

In addition to sponsorship, Theodist supports BbP’s publishing program by retailing its full range of readers, including the When I Grow Up series such as When I Grow Up, I Want to Be a Graphic Designer. These books encourage children to imagine future careers and inspire them to dream big.
