Theodist Welcomes Buk bilong Pikinini Students for Printshop Excursion

Media Statement

As part of National Book Week, Theodist Ltd was delighted to welcome children from Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) and their teachers to our printshop in Port Moresby. The visit was partof our long-standing partnership with BbP and our ongoing commitment to literacy and education in Papua New Guinea.

The key purpose of the excursion was to give these students the opportunity to explore our printshop, where, with the support of our talented graphic designers, they experienced first-hand what it is like to work in the creative industry. They also printed their own brochures with the assistance of our printing team, learning how the machines operate and seeing the processes that books and brochures go through before reaching their final stages.

Kevin Anderson, Theodist’s National Sales and Marketing Manager, said, “National Book Week is a wonderful time to celebrate the power of books. They open minds, inspire creativity, and help shape the futures of our young people.” He added that activities like this not only make learning more engaging but also help children connect classroom reading to real-world careers.

Theodist proudly sells the entire When I Grow Up children’s book series in-store, with all proceeds going directly to BbP’s programs. There is also a dedicated book donation zone in-store where customers can donate pre-loved books to help more children gain access to reading materials.

Anne-Sophie Hermann, Founder of Buk bilong Pikinini, expressed her appreciation for the partnership, saying, “Thanks to Theodist for the amazing partnership BbP has had for more than 10 years. For the children to see first-hand the printing equipment and imagine how books, brochures, materials, and stories are created can really spark their curiosity and imagination. It gives them a real-life experience of work and what it takes to create these materials.”

She also noted that Theodist’s involvement goes beyond simply providing resources. “We are so grateful for Theodist’s holistic support for BbP, which not only includes the sales and distribution of our books across PNG but also this partnership where we can produce materials the students can truly relate to.”

For over 50 years, Theodist has been a proud supporter of education in Papua New Guinea and remains committed to building partnerships that inspire, educate, and empower the nation’s future generations.
